Colin Giles

Updated: Nov 19, 2019

A couple of days ago, Colin Giles, the Head of the School of Animation at Vancouver was kind enough to come and visit us at Sisler to give a presentation and take a look at what we have been working on. His presentation was very inspiring. Colin showcased a lot of work that students at VFS had worked on and I was really amazed at their creations. Prior to his presentation, I was mainly focused on creating 3D assets for games, but after seeing what VFS has to offer, I’m also interested in creating models for films or animations. Colin showed us an animation about a guy who invites a girl over and she says yes, but she later she asks if she can bring her boyfriend. During the brief moment the guy thought she was coming alone, the art style completed changed from a more realistic look, to a more Disneyesque look. I thought this was a very creative idea and was fun to watch. Colin Giles presentation really opened my eyes as to just how many jobs there are in the IDM industry.
